African Youth Co-Creators Council 2026 (Funding)

Overview

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting applications for the African Youth Co-Creators Council 2026. The Council will bring together 11 outstanding young African leaders from across the continent and the diaspora to advise UNDP on youth-focused policies and programmes over a two-year term. Members will contribute to the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the UNDP Africa Youth Portfolio while engaging with UNDP offices across 46 African countries. The role is voluntary, with UNDP covering travel and participation costs for official Council activities.

Eligibility

• African national aged 18–34 years at the time of selection.
• Living in Africa or the African diaspora (maximum of two diaspora seats).
• Demonstrated leadership, innovation, or community engagement experience.
• Experience in areas such as climate action, governance, peacebuilding, digital innovation, gender, mental health, poverty reduction, systems thinking, communication, or the green, blue, or orange economy.
• Committed to inclusive development and youth empowerment.
• Must not have previously served on a UN or development partner Youth Advisory Council or similar body.
• Available to participate in regular virtual meetings and occasional in-person engagements.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Able to serve in a personal and politically neutral capacity.
